## Where the Red Line Makes High Rise Living Easier

Houston is a driving city with one big exception: the METRORail Red Line corridor. The line runs north-south through Downtown, Midtown, the Museum District and the Texas Medical Center. If your office, hospital or campus sits on that line, a high rise near a stop can cut your commute and your parking bill.

Buildings on or beside the corridor in our October 2026 data:

- **Commerce Towers** (914 Main St, Downtown): from $2,150, 1–4 bedrooms
- **SoDo on Main** (1625 Main St, Downtown): from $1,221
- **Luminary Residences** (3300 Main St, Midtown): from $1,730, 2 months free
- **Latitude Med Center** (1850 Old Main St, TMC area): from $1,635, 1 month free

Nearby towers like Drewery Place on Fannin, Elev8 on Smith Street and Boone Manor in the Museum District sit a short walk from stops. We list the nearest stop and the measured walking distance for each building on your shortlist.

## Downtown Commuters: The Tunnel Factor

If you work Downtown, the Downtown Houston Tunnel System matters as much as the rail. It links many office buildings underground, which makes August heat and summer downpours easier. Main Street Square and the Downtown Transit Center anchor the rail side. A tower like The Star (1111 Rusk) or Aris Market Square (409 Travis) puts you a short walk from both.

## Common Problems We Solve

### “I do not want to pay for parking I barely use”

Skipping a monthly parking fee can offset a higher rent. See

living car-free in Houston

 for the full savings math.

### “Which stops serve which neighborhoods?”

Our

Red Line stops explained

[/guide/metrorail-red-line-high-rises/ →](/guide/metrorail-red-line-high-rises/)

guide lists stops by neighborhood with nearby towers.

### “I work at TMC and live in Midtown”

That is one of the most common Red Line commutes. The TMC Transit Center and the Hermann Park/Rice U station connect TMC staff to Midtown and Museum District towers.

## Beyond the Red Line

The Purple and Green lines serve the East End and other corridors, and METRO bus rapid transit runs along Post Oak in Uptown, but neither changes the high rise picture much. Park-and-ride lots serve suburban commuters rather than inner-loop renters. Tell us where you commute in the questionnaire, and we will send rail-side towers with this week’s specials.
